Luis Escobar In Drymax Socks

Luis Escobar Wearing Drymax Trailrunning Socks

It is with great pride that we can officially announce Luis Escobar as a Drymax wearer. Luis, along with being a Montrail athlete, is a professional photographer in Santa Maria, CA and many know him through his running but also by seeing him at countless ultra events both domestically and abroad either volunteering or snapping photos for the event.

About Drymax socks Luis said, "In Hawaii, I ran the HURT Trail 100 Mile Ultramarathon. The course is very gnarly, roots, mud and rocks. I completed the course in 30 hours wearing Drymax trail socks the entire way. Not one blister, no problems at all! I don't know how they work - I just know that they do."

Luis continued, "I was in the mountains above Ojai working the Coyote 2 Moon 100 mile run. It has been pretty exciting to see so many of my friends and fellow runners wearing your Drymax products. Everyone that I know swears by Drymax."

Luis' next race is this Sunday in Malibu, a 50k, then the Leona 50 Mile in April, the MiWok 100k in May, the Western States 100 in June and the Plain 100 in September.

We are very proud to have Luis as part of the Drymax family of elite ultrarunners...

Drymax Athlete Bethanie Mattek-Sands Launches New Website

INDIAN WELLS, CA, USA - Bethanie Mattek-Sands, currently ranked in the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour's Top 40 in both singles and doubles, launched her official website on Friday, March 13, 2009.

Mattek-Sands, one of the few all-court players in the upper echelon of the sport and America's No.3 player behind the Williams sisters, is playing the best tennis of her young career. She reached her first Grand Slam second week at Wimbledon last year and her first singles final at Québec City in October; she missed the first few months of 2009 with a hip injury but returned this past week at Indian Wells and hopes to continue her success in the year to come.

Custom designed by Bruce Quiroz of Elemental Studios, her official website is unique and interactive, and includes features such as a flash introduction, ongoing "Bethanie's Blog" and Tour and match updates. It also includes various pages full of information, pictures and video from her past and current matches, and more.

"I am ecstatic about the opportunity to have such a unique site that I can share with my many fans. This will give people a better look into my world and the person I am rather than trying to figure me out on their own. I am eager to get blogging with my fans to see what they want me to wear and give them a feel for what it's like to be a part of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour through my eyes."

Mattek-Sands began playing tennis at age 5, training at the world famous Evert Academy, and played her first pro event at age 14. Over the course of her Tour career she has won four doubles titles and amassed almost $1 million in prize money. Her outgoing personality has won her fans worldwide both on and off the court; she also is known for an adventurous sense of fashion, having had many stories published on her court attire and the unique personality she has brought.

Mattek-Sands was born March 23, 1985 in Rochester, Minnesota, and currently trains and resides in Phoenix, Arizona. She married former athlete and Phoenix businessman Justin Sands in November 2008.

Athletes Are Talking About Drymax Socks!!!

It has been a while since I've posted comments from athlete's about their impressions of Drymax socks. Here are just a few from just this weekend:

"I remember when i was running marathons and my feet would get tore up wearing worthless **** socks and now after 100k the only thing that doesn't hurt on my body are my feet!"
- Dan Waddle after completing the Coyote Two Moon 100k

"I can not tell you how happy I am with my C2M experience. The toughest race that I have had to deal with yet. What a surprise though to not have to worry about my feet. AT ALL!!!

Early on each foot took a did in a stream crossing and with the temps dipping as low as 24 degrees, I have to tell you that I was a bit worried. The next time my feet even crossed my mind, they no longer felt wet and they were never cold. A runner such as myself has to manage time wisely. To not have to change my socks was a big plus. Sometime cut offs come down to minutes and a foot problem can take me out of a race. At C2M I had no feet issues. No blisters. No pain what so ever and I have to say that I owe it to the (Drymax) socks."

- Leigh Corbin after completing the Coyote Two Moon 100 Mile

"For the first time I have found a product (Drymax) that I can truly believe in and I no longer have to worry about skirting around water while on the trail."

- Brian Krogmann after taking 2nd place at the Coyote Two Moon 100k

"So thankful for... Drymax (no sock change, no blisters, once the dirt was off it didn't even look like I had run!)"

- Meredith Terranova after winning the Coyote Two Moon 100k (Female)

"I am sure all of the people in Alabama will be buying Drymax after what we went through on Saturday! They couldn’t believe my feet! I wore flip-flops to the awards ceremony on purpose to show them off!"

- Jamie Donaldson after dominating the Delano 12 Hour race winning overall and setting a new overall course record completing 78 blister free miles

"The entire race, my Drymax socks stayed comfortable on my feet even though everything was soaked!"

- Debra Horn after taking 2nd female, 5th overall and 'Grandmaster Champion' of the Delano 12 hour race completing 68 blister free miles.

Coyote 2 Moon Race Experience

Drymax Sock Sightings At Coyote 2 Moons

Drymax Athlete & 100k Winner Meredith Terranova

First of all I would like to thank Chris Scott and everyone at the Coyote 2 Moon for putting on such a fun event. Nothing is taken seriously, as a matter of fact it is prohibited and will be dealt with swiftly.

Brian Krogmann Leading Meredith Terranova and Dan Waddle

Now on to the events, the Coyote 2 Moon is a great pair of races including a 100 mile and a 100 kilometer distance. We were fortunate to have been at the event from the initial check in through the very serious (not really) ceremony following the race. We were able to meet so many new friends and see some old ones. It was wonderful to have seen the Drymax logo on so many competitor's even without my prodding.

Meredith Terranova and Dan Waddle

We enjoyed following Drymax athlete and women's 100k favorite Meredith Terranova but found ourselves following so many different runners who were competing in Drymax. In the end, Meredith did prevail in the woman's 100k, winning blister free wearing Drymax Hot Weather socks with a time of 15 hours 47 minutes. We were also there to cheer on others like Drymax athlte Leigh Corbin who finished a very challenging 100 mile race, also with zero blisters and never changing her socks.

It was great to see other runners like Dan Waddle and Brian Krogmann turning in very fast blister free top 5 100k times wearing Drymax Trailrunning socks.
Meredith Terranova At The 18 Mile Mark

Other runners wearing Drymax for the race were Charlie Chrisman, Karen Hanke (who I heard dnf'd because of a fall and hurt her wrist), Juliet Morgan and Aaron Kohr among so many others.

Aaron Kohr Relaxing At The Finish

Thank you to everyone at the event for being so nice and inclusive to myself and my wife Charity. We enjoyed every minute! We will be posting more photos soon.

Jamie Donaldson Breaks Records In The Rain!

Congratulations to Jamie Donaldson who just continues to amaze us with her blazing fast performances!!! I was at an aid station at the Coyote 2 Moon last night and received a text from Jamie after her Delano Park 12 Hour race telling me she had a great day. But it wasn't until I returned to my computer hours later that I knew how impressive her performance was.

Jamie's Blister Free Feet After 12 Hours 78 Miles In The Rain

Jamie was able to set a new women's course record running 78 miles in just 12 hours, she also won the overall title and set a new overall course record! All of this in steady rain and muddy conditions. Jamie maintained a 9 minute 13 second pace for 12 hours straight in the rain. A little more perspective: Jamie was so fast that she would have taken 3rd place in the team relay beating the 3M Decatur Running club by 15 miles! Adding to this is the fact that she was testing our new Drymax Maximum Protection Lite Trail socks and had zero blisters!

Debra Horn and Jamie Donaldson

We were even more happy to hear that Drymax athlete Debra Horn finished as the 2nd female and 5th overall completing 68 miles. Like Jamie she had zero blisters wearing Drymax socks!

On a side note Drymax socks are proudly manufactured in the USA in a plant just over an hour away from where this race was held.

Great job Jamie and Debra!!!

Big Weekend Ahead For Drymax Athletes

The coming weekend is an active one for some Drymax athletes.

Drymax athletes Jamie Donaldson and Debra Horn will be competing at the Delano 12 hour in Decatur, Alabama as a warm up for the 24 Hour World Championships in Italy. Debra, having just turned 50 will be attempting to break the age group American Record. Jamie is coming off of a domintating win at the Rocky Raccoon 100.

Drymax athlete Karl Meltzer will be competing in the Way Too Cool 50k where he is giving himself 9-1 odds of winning noting that 31 miles is not his ideal distance. 100 miles is where Karl really shines.

Drymax athletes Meredith Terranova and Leigh Corbin will be competing at the Coyote Two Moon 100 mile race in Ojai, CA.. Meredith is coming off of a very impressive victory in the Rocky Raccoon 50 Mile race.

In tennis, 3rd Ranked USA and 38th World ranked WTA Player and Drymax athlete Bethanie Mattek-Sands is making her season debut at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. She will be competing in singles and doubles. Bethanie already has a victory in doubles this week with her partner Marshona Washington defeating S. Cirstea/G Voskoboeva 6-2 /6-2.

I am very excited that we are going to be a sponsor of the Coyote Two Moon race. Luckily, Ojai is not too far from my Central Coast office so I will be attending the race (while my wife takes advantage of Ojai's very famous spa, not going to be a cheap weekend!)

Good luck to all of the athletes competing this weekend as the competive year get's going! Sorry if I forgot anybody.

Sports Are A Life Lesson

So many things learned in sports carry over to everyday life. With sports you often get out what you put in but some luck never hurts. Regardless, if you give 100% and compete with integrity then it really doesn't matter who wins so long as the competition is honorable and fun.
I was really reminded of this while watching the Drymax basketball team compete recently. This team made up of young men of about 12 years old competed with an intensity and fairness that I haven't often seen. They were diving for balls, playing with teamwork and hustling the entire game. The competition was fierce and Team Drymax came out victorious in overtime.

The most impressive thing was their sportsmanship during and immediately after the game. They shook hands and even hugged congratulating eachother then immediately went outside where they continued to play.

We are so proud to be part of the Templeton, California Youth Basketball program and sponsors of these young people learning a little about life while on the basketball court. Congratulations on a great season.
